October 22, 2009, Halifax, Nova Scotia – Maple Trade Finance Inc. of Halifax has been selected as one of Nova Scotia’s and one of Atlantic Canada’s top employers for 2010.
“This award holds particular significance for me as it provides third party recognition of the commitment we have to our employees.”, said Carole-Ann Miller, President of Maple Trade Finance. “Being identified as an employer of choice enables our company to continue to attract highly competent, motivated and accomplished employees. Our employees are our company. Quite simply, they are the front line serving our valued clients.”
Maple Trade was one of 15 companies (the only one in the financial services sector) selected for the recognition in Nova Scotia, and one of 25 selected within the larger pool for Atlantic Canada. The companies recognized were selected from the national Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition which this year attracted over 75,000 entrants. From these applicants, 16,000 were selected by Mediacorp for detailed consideration.
The selection and assessment criteria included employee communications, performance management, training and skills development and community involvement as well as physical workplace, work atmosphere, health, financial and family benefits, vacation and time-off benefits.
In citing Maple Trade, the jury noted MTF’s support to employees in their on-going personal and career development, the company’s extraordinary roof top location with its spectacular view of Halifax harbour, and the big company benefits provided by a relatively small company.
Maple Trade Finance is an innovative financial institution. The company has taken the best of the conventional banking industry, combined it with the flexibility of traditional factoring companies and created a fresh new approach to financing Canadian companies. Maple Trade Finance is a unique company driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and an understanding of the practical issues facing Canadian businesses.
