May 7, 2009, Halifax, Nova Scotia – The staff of Halifax-based Maple Trade Finance (MTF) are pleased to congratulate their President, Carole-Ann Miller, on being named as one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEO’s of 2009, the third consecutive year for which she has been recognized.
The awards are given by the Atlantic Business Magazine of St. John’s, NL, which according to Publisher Hubert Hutton, were “initiated to celebrate the region’s best and brightest corporate leaders”. Presentation of the awards took place at a gala event at the Halifax’s World Trade and Convention Centre on May 7th attended by over 600 people.
Under the leadership of Ms. Miller, MTF has experienced remarkable growth during the past eight years. What begun as a two-person operation, now employs a staff of 22, and serves clients through offices across Canada. Ms. Miller and her partner started the company in 2001 and sold ownership to the Maple Financial Group in 2003 in order to gain access to the capital required to enable the business to grow as it has. The Maple Financial Group is a Canadian-based global financial organization with offices worldwide.
Maple Trade’s motto is: "when opportunity knocks, we make sure you can answer the door!”
MTF offers a complementary package of financial products and services that provide an often needed, but hard to get, source of cash flow that enables companies to continue to grow. Maple Trade’s focus is the SME sector. “Our approach is innovative” says Miller. “We believe that we have taken the best of the conventional banking industry, combined it with the flexibility of traditional factoring companies and have created a fresh new approach to financing. Our focus in decision making is the viability of the transaction rather than the client’s balance sheet.”
In addition to providing leadership to Maple Trade Finance, Carole Ann Miller, serves on the Advisory Board of the Sobeys School of Business at Saint Mary’s University and on the Board of Trade Centre Limited, a Nova Scotia Crown Corporation which operates the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax, the Halifax Metro Centre and the ExhibitionPark.
